Luz's main tasks at Olivares & Cía. are filing and prosecution of Trademark applications; replying to official actions regarding objections issued by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI); as well as replying to official actions in order to overcome anticipations cited in trademarks applications by IMPI. She is in charge of Trademark application refusals within the Appeals Department, and prepares and files nullity claims relating to trademark applications. Also, Luz prepares and files appeals before the Federal Court of Tax and Administrative Affairs (FCTA), and Amparo Suits as well in trademark matters (both direct and indirect).

• Square D Company v. Grupo Empresarial Eléctrico Montana, S.A. de C.V. Amparo suit (indirect), 4th District Court, favorable decision of March 8, 2012, against illegal notifications by IMPI. (2011)
• Black Card LLC v. Mastercard International Inc. Amparo suit (direct), 10th Federal Circuit Court, favorable decision of November 28, 2011, against a decision issued by the FCTA regarding likelihood confusion. (2010)
• Francisco Ávila Soto v. Mexican Institute of Industrial Property. Appeal before the FCTA, favorable decision of November 30, 2011, considering that the trademark "Santísimo" in international class 33 does not attempt against public order, morals or good customs. (2011)
