Digital Rights Issues in Copyright Law – Complimentary Web Seminar

December 15 2009 at 4pm GMT/ 11am EST/ 8am PST –
In conjunction with Managing IP Magazine, Olivares & Cia will be taking part in a web seminar on 15th December, 2009, analysing the various issues posed to copyright law in the US, Europe and Latin America by digital media, including:
·         Digitisation of works, particularly older works subject to contracts that did not contemplate assignment of rights for utilising the works in digital media;
·         Orphan works;
·         File sharing and public access to copyrighted works;
·         The complexities of Digital Rights Management mechanisms.

We have a great panel for the discussion, namely:
·         Octavio Pedroza, Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Warner Brothers Home Video,USA
·         Trevor Cook, Partner, Bird & Bird, UK
·         Luis Schmidt, Partner, Olivares & Cia., Mexico
·         Eileen McDermott, Americas editor, Managing IP (moderating)

The discussion will address the ways in which these issues have played out in jurisdictions including the UK/Europe, the US and Mexico/Latin America. Panelists will also explore how entertainment industries in these jurisdictions have been affected by the problems that digitisation has posed, and how they have reacted in order to secure or protect their copyright rights.

This webinar will be essential viewing for both in-house counsel and private practitioners working in the media and entertainment industries.
