Jose Ignacio De Santiago

José Ignacio de Santiago joined Olivares & Cía. in 1996, becoming a partner in 2003. He is currently partner in patents. Prior to joining Olivares, Mr. De Santiago worked in the Mexican Financial System and in Grupo Zapata, one of the leading companies in the production and sale of packaging in Mexico.

He graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana in 1990, holding a JD degree, has completed several postgraduate diplomas from Universities in Mexico and Spain and is currently preparing a paper to obtain a PhD from the Universidad Panamericana. He has participated in negotiation workshop programs at Harvard University and received his Diploma in Industrial and Intellectual Property Law at Universidad Panamericana among others. 

Mr. De Santiago has published numerous articles and reports. He has lectured at several conferences. He is part of the Board of Asociación Mexicana para la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (AMPPI) for 2008-2010. Mr. De Santiago is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and serves as an advisor on Mexican IP law for many of the Forbes 500 companies, doing mostly litigation. 

Mr. De Santiago's work and experience at Olivares & Cia. is extensive reaching trademark, patents, anti-counterfiting and related litigation. Currently his practice area is patents. 

Mr. De Santiago has received a personal recommendation from the Guide to the World´s Leading Trademark Experts and Latin Lawyer.
